Herbert Champlin Jr., 61, Pineville, Ky

Herbert Champlin Jr., 61, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at Pineville Community Hospital. He was born May 24, 1964, in Bell County, a son of the late Myrtle Davenport Champlin and Herbert Champlin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Bernice Duncan Johnson; and his brothers, Howard Duncan, Robert Duncan, Curtis Duncan, Lonnie Bays, and Ronnie Bays.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Champlin (Lovina Skidmore) of Pineville, Kentucky; his sisters, Peggy Champlin of Pineville, Kentucky, and Cora Faye Champlin of Crossville, Tennessee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Junior was a free spirit who embraced life and found joy in the mountains he loved. He had a passion for making candy, baking, and canning jellies. More than anything, he deeply loved and cherished his family.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
