Hazel Henderson

Hazel Maynes Henderson, 86, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at her home. She was born in Kay Jay, KY July 2, 1931, and was a daughter of the late John Will and Martha Jane Osbourne Maynes. Hazel was a homemaker and a member of Piney Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Henderson and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Kay Henderson, son, Terry Henderson, grandchildren, Jodi Coomer, Wayne Sturgill, great-grandchildren, Jillian Sturgill, Jack Sturgill and Lukas Sturgill, brothers and sisters, Harold Raye Maynes, Ancil Maynes, Shirley Boyd and husband Glen and Billie Mahan, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Arnett & Stele Funeral Home with Rev. Gillis Jackson officiating. Music will be by Timothy Maynes. Burial will be in the Henderson Cemetery, Kay Jay, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Glen Boyd, Wayne Sturgill and Butch Lyke. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until funeral hour, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to be serving the family Hazel Henderson.
