Harve Junior Couch

.Harve Junior Couch, 83, of Stoney Fork, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Hindman, KY on February 12, 1938, son of the late Elbert and Velda Calhoun Couch. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and attended Stoney Fork Pentecostal Church. He had served honorably in the US Airforce. Harve began his college education at Alice Lloyd College, his Bachelor of Science Degree at Cumberland College, his Masters Degree at the University of Kentucky, and his Rank 1 at Eastern Kentucky University. He had been a teacher and principal for 27 years in Perry, Bell, and Harlan Counties and continued teaching as a substitute until the age of 82. Harve was a devoted Master Mason of Bell Lodge #691, a Kentucky Colonel, and served as the director of Bell County Solid Waste. In addition to his parents, Elbert and Velda Couch, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Shannon Couch; brothers, Jimmy Couch, Kenneth Ray Couch and brother-in-law, Charles Duncil. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Sue Lefevers Couch; daughter, Stacie Kristen Maggard and husband, Brent; son, Jason Todd Couch; grandchildren, Lauren Blakelee Couch, Landon Todd Couch, Nathan Gerrod Maggard, Mathew Parker Maggard, Conner Braden Maggard and Andrew Michael Maggard; brother, James Couch and wife Janice; sisters, Geneva Duncil, Glenna Cordell and husband, Sam, and Beulah Turner; also surviving, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and many friends. Masonic Services will begin at 1:45 PM on Thursday, June 17,2021, followed by the Funeral Services at 2:00 PM at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Barnett. Music will be provided by Lauren Couch. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY with full military honor. Pallbearers will be Richard Baker, James Shepherd, Kenny Howard, Tim Howard, Raymond Messer and David Messer. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Alice Lloyd College, 100 Purpose Road, Pippa Passes, Kentucky, 41844 in memory of Harve Couch. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Couch Family.
