Gwen Wilson passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 71. Gwen was born on April 27, 1950 in Beverly, Kentucky. He married Verna Cox who was his partner in life for 50 years. Gwen was preceded in death by his parents, Colman and Carrie Wilson; and his siblings, Boyd Wilson, Denver Wilson, Faye Mullins, and Francis Lawson. Gwen is survived by his wife, Verna Wilson; three children, Scott Wilson, Tammy Collins (Wesley Tuttle), and Mona Smith; five grandchildren, Tyler and Bailey Collins, Katelyn and Tyler Fuson, Dillan Collins, Bella Wilson and Ethan Wilson; 1 great-grandchild, Carson Collins; nine siblings, Hassel Wilson of Pineville, Kentucky, Don and Pat Wilson of Pineville, Kentucky, Morris and Makita Wilson of Straight Creek, Kentucky, Kim Caldwell of Stoney Fork, Kentucky, Kathy and Monroe Ozborne of London, Kentucky, Donna and John Baggs of 92, Kentucky, Sherri and Toby Givens of 92, Kentucky, Sheila and Tillman Brock of Stoney Fork, Kentucky, and Brenda Wilson of Middlesboro, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gwen was a believer in the Holiness Faith and practiced his beliefs for close to 50 years. He enjoyed spending his free time with grandchildren and great-grandson, who he loved so dearly. He even gave each one a special nickname of their own. Gwen was a loving husband and father, known for his strong faith, compassion and willingness to serve the Lord. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens with Rev. Donald Wilson, Rev. Richard Asher, Rev. Ronnie Hoskins, and Rev. Chris Turner presiding. Pallbearers will be Rodney Wilson, Justin Caldwell, Dewayne Widener, Derrick Widener, Tyler Collins, Dillan Collins, and Terrill Russell. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Wilson Family.
