Gloria Dezarn Lowe

September 6, 1953 — September 11, 2010

Gloria Jean Dezarn Lowe, 57 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center following an unexpected illness. Born in London, KY on September 6, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Matt and Martha Owens Dezarn of Manchester, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Stacia Reed and Brother-in-law, Madison Reed who raised her from the age of six months and she considered them her parents. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Dezarn of Laurel County and Jack Dezarn of Burning Springs, Clay Co., KY. Jean was a graduate of Clay County High School. She attended Cumberland College where she received her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and met her husband of 35 years, Darrell Lowe. After their marriage on August 23, 1975, they made their residence in Bell County where she and her husband taught school. She received her Master Degree in Elementary Education at Union College. Jean retired from teaching after 27 years of service to work closer with her husband in the ministry at the Lighthouse. Jean was the first to suggest opening a church where the Lighthouse now stands on Hwy. 119. Not only did Jean teach many of the children in Bell County during her career, she was one of those unseen hero?s who never sought any recognition for herself. She faithfully supported her husband with the vision that God had given and believed very strongly in it. She often gave him much encouragement through the difficult times in the ministry. Jean became co-director of the Lighthouse Day Care with her husband. She also taught Sunday School for many years as well as working with her husband as Youth Directors. Jean also stood in the shadows with her husband assisting him as one of the Founding Trustees of the St. Creek Trinity Tabernacle, One of the Founders and Pastor of the Stoney Fork Pentecostal Community Church as well as the Lighthouse and its many outreach ministries such as Mission, Daycare, Clinic and Shelter. Jean was a loving mother who was very devoted and proud of her two children, Brian Anthony Lowe and his wife, Heather and Hillary Grace Lowe. She is also survived by a niece who was like a sister to her, Sherry Reed, brothers and sisters and their spouses, Charles ?Babe? and Fannie Dezarn, Dan ?Blue John? Dezarn, Paul and Carolyn Dezarn, Clarence and Brenda Dezarn, Nancy Crawford, Esther and Bev Roberts, Doris and Lige Gross and Charlotte and Joe Stewart and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
