Geraldine "Gerry" Roan

Geraldine “Gerry” Chandler Roan, 89 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Pineville Community Health Care with her family beside her. She was born in Gatliff, KY on July 10, 1933, a daughter of the late James Lloyd “Chig” and Hazel Black Chandler. Gerry was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 80 years where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She had been a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James O. Roan; brothers, J.C. Chandler and his wife, Ruby and Armond Chandler and his wife, Pauline; and sister, Alberta McCarty and her husband, Donald.

Gerry is survived by her sons, Robert Roan and wife, Michele, and Michael Roan and Amy Hufstedler; daughter, Sarah Biddy and husband, DeWayne; grandchildren, Jacob Roan and fiancé, Summer, Lindsey Ross and husband, Brad, James “Jamie” Mason Roan, and Morgan Biddy; great-grandchild, Chandler Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caretakers, Dr. Martha Combs-Woolum, Loretta Bingham, and Billie June Combs, and to the Third Floor Nurses at the Pineville Community Health Care and the staff at Tri State Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Pineville with Rev. Paul Anglin, Rev. Ron Howard, Rev. Jerry Combs, Mr. Jamie Roan, and Miss Morgan Biddy presiding. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jacob Roan, Jamie Roan, Brad Ross, DeWayne Biddy, Matt Williams, Dan Williams, Bart Williams, Elliott McCarty, James Combs, David Combs, John Combs. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Pineville.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 PM until the funeral hour at the First Baptist Church of Pineville.
