George E. Stewart, 85 of Morristown, TN, formerly of Pineville, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Life Care Center in Morristown. He was born in Knox County on August 5, 1925 a son of the late James S. Stewart. Sr. and Mary Hammons Stewart. George was very proud to be a United States Army Veteran where he served as a medic and ambulance driver during World War II, and was honorably discharged as a First Sergeant. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and was the owner and operator of the Cairnes Coal Company when he retired. George was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pineville where he served as Sunday School Superintendant for many years. He was a member of the Pineville Kiwanis Club and the Middlesboro Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with his friends. He had also served his community as a Kentucky State Representative from Bell County from 1974 through 1980. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Stewart Chandler; two infant sisters and two brothers, Jack Stewart and James S. Stewart, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Genevieve Rosaforte and her husband, Tim of Jupiter, Fl; grandchildren, Lisa Chandler, Genna Rosaforte and Molly Rosaforte; great-grandson, Grayson Chandler; his former wife, Genevieve Stewart; brothers, William S. Stewart of Flat Lick and Ralph H. Stewart of Williamsburg and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
