Gary Lynn Smith

Gary Lynn Smith, 62, a resident of Mountain View Nursing Home, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Pineville on March 16, 1958 a son of the late Garrett and Elsie Jackson Smith. He had worked in the Dietary Department at Pineville Community Hospital for many years. He had served in the Army from 1977 to 1980, then enlisted in the Army Reserve from 1980 to 1989. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Martha Whitehead, niece, Krystal North, and daughter-in-law, Ashley Smith. Survivors include his three sons, Timothy (Crystal) Smith, Jason (Christy) Smith and Jeremy (Danielle) Smith; step-son, Travis Nunn; grandchildren, Kade, Chase, Kayla, Gin, Hayley, Landon, Kelan, Olivia, Kennadie, Teanne and Samuel; sister, Birdie Holman; mother of his children, Phyllis Jones and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the Mountain View Nursing Staff and Dr. Moore for their care and compassion. Private services will be held at a later date.
