Fred Chumley

Fred Chumley, age 86, born on 13 October 1927, went to be with the Lord on 23 February 2014, at his home in Harrogate, Tennessee. He served in the US Army during 1946 and 1947. A member of Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Fred was their song leader for 55 years, until 2007. He was a member of the Shawanee chapter of Freemasons for over 60 years. He was known to many people through his career as mechanic and service station owner. He retired in 1982, after which he continued fishing, beekeeping, and black walnut production

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Van Weems and Dellar Bussell Chumley; sisters Minnie Powell and Agnes Gordon; and brothers Lewis, Otis, Woodrow, Estel, Henley, John, and George. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lanora Chumley; children, Freddie Chumley, Linda Harris, and Rick Chumley; grandchildren, Freddie Van Chumley II, Christy White, Jason Niday, and Adam Niday; great-grandchildren, Matthew Fischer, Mikey Fischer, Trey Chumley, Brett White, Kennedy White, Davey Niday, and Liam Niday. Brothers: Haynes, Clyde & Harley, Sister- Hassie Lay.

Friends will be received at Reece Funeral Home, Harrogate, Wednesday 26 February 2014 from 5-8 pm, with Masonic service at 8 pm. Funeral Service will be at Underwood Grove Church Thursday 27 February at 1 pm, pastor Marvin Simmons officiating, music by Frankie Chumley and the church choir. Family graveside service will follow at Chumley Cemetery, Freddie Van Chumley II officiating, music by Trey Chumley. Pallbearers will be Darrell Chumley, Dennis Chumley, Eddie Chumley, Kelly Chumley, Steve Chumley, and Randy McKinney.
