Frances Rae Brandenburg Hume was born in Pineville, KY on April 8, 1918 and she passed away on July 28, 2014 in Longwood, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Michael and Verdie Rae Asher Brandenburg, her Sister Dorothy Tuggle and her brothers John Asher Brandenburg and R. Howard Brandenburg. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years Joseph Clay Hume who died in 1999. Frances, also known as Brandy, attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri and graduated from there with a degree in Sociology receiving an A.B. degree. She was a member of the Student Board, House President, Head of the Little Sister Movement, a member of Y.W.C.A. Cabinet, Secretary-Treasurer of the Athletic Association, a member of the Year Book Staff, Treasurer of the League of Women Voters, and a member of Kappa Pi. She listed her hobby as painting. Continuing to develop that talent she became an artist of landscapes and was especially noted for seascapes of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and of family homes. Her paintings are in many private collections. For many years they lived in Nags Head, NC where they had beach house rentals and lived alongside the Atlantic Ocean. They moved to Longwood, Florida and lived at Village on the Green, (LifeSpace). During the years of their retirement they traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada buying a winter home in Tubac, AZ with the ‘Village' being their home. Frances B. Hume is the last of her generation in the Brandenburg family. She is survived by numerous nieces and one nephew that are scatted all over the country. Frances was a very special person and a much loved aunt. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery.
