Flora LeFevers Mattingly passed peacefully at home in Pineville, Kentucky on June 9th, 2017, and went to join her dear Mother and a host of others in Heaven. She was born on December 4, 1941, in Molus, Kentucky to Delphina S. LeFevers and George LeFevers. She grew up in Molus, Kentucky and attended Molus School. She married George Godshall at the age of 16, and moved to California, where her only child, Shawn S. Fugate, was conceived. She moved back to Louisville, Kentucky, to live with her mother and step-father, and to give birth to and raise her child. She attended the University of Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University while raising a child as a single mother. Only after her son's graduation from college, she married her love of many years, William D. Mattingly of Louisville, with whom she remained until his passing in 1986. She was passionate about teaching her son, and later grand-children, Christian values and morals and a strong work-ethic. Her love of family was evident in her selfless sacrifice and giving - she devoted most of the last years of her life to the care of her ailing mother, and did everything possible to assure the comfort of her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son; three grand-children, Brittany (Tony) Lynch of Pineville, Shawn (Ashley) Fugate, II of Pineville, and Nicholas Fugate of Pineville; four great-grandchildren, Emma Birkemeier, Ella Lynch, Brody Fugate and Alyssa Fugate, all of Pineville. She is also survived by two brothers, JP (Brenda) Fugate of Louisville and John (Sandy) Lefevers of Pineville, and two sisters, Georgiana Miller of Maine and Judy LeFevers of Pineville, as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Wanda Faye LeFevers of Pineville. The family wishes to give special thanks to her loving family and friends who assisted in her end-of-life care, especially her dear friend, Terri Baker and her loving sister, Judy LeFevers. Also thanks to Dr. Russell Devore, III, James Wolfenbarger, and the entire staff at Tennessee Cancer Specialists in Harrogate, for the excellent, compassionate care they provided her during her battle with cancer. Thanks also to her primary care provider, Alice Ward, APRN and the staff of GraceHealth, Pineville, for their medical care and support through her illness. A private Memorial Service for the family is planned to celebrate her life. Family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the UT Cancer Center, 1926 Alcoa Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920 or to the American Cancer Society, 1640 Lyndon Farm Ct., Ste 104, Louisville, KY 40223.
