Eugene Miracle

Harrogate, Tennessee

Eugene “Gene” Miracle, age 90, of Harrogate, TN passed away peacefully April 4, 2020 at his home with his loving children by his side. He was born June 16, 1929 to the late Chester Arthur Miracle, Sr. and Viola (Fuson) Miracle. Gene was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the 916th Medical Ambulance Company Association. The 916th was the founding unit of the National Guard Armory in Middlesboro and was activated during the Korean War. The unit was stationed at Camp Picket, Virginia. The members served duty in Korea as replacement troops. Gene participated in maneuvers at Desert Rock, Nevada and was given an extensive indoctrination in atomic warfare and witnessed an atomic explosion.  At the time of enlistment he worked at Hobart Cawood Funeral Home in Middlesboro, Kentucky.  Gene retired from the US Army and continued many years of work including work at Epps Chevrolet and Howard Chevrolet in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Department of Interior Cumberland Gap Job Corps in Middlesboro, Kentucky. After numerous lines of work, he retired in 1994 from the Department of Interior Cumberland Gap National Park.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Sylvia June Long Miracle, sisters; Edna Miracle Reynolds, and one infant sister, brothers; Jack Miracle, Roger Miracle, Chester A. Miracle, Jr., Don Miracle and David Miracle.

He is survived by his sons; Arthur Glen Miracle and Steven Eugene Miracle, both of Harrogate, TN, daughter; Ramona M. Dotson, son-in-law; Larry Dotson, grandson; Jarrod C. Dotson and wife Ember Shade Dotson, great grandson; Jase Cullen Dotson, brothers; Boyd Clifford Miracle and Billie Joe Miracle. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of many other loving relatives and friends.

A private graveside service was conducted Monday, April 6, 2020 at the Harrogate Cemetery.
