Esther Joyce Matthews

Esther Joyce Matthews, 89 of Pineville, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at her home. She was born in Clinton, Tennessee on July 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Crystal Faine Osborne and Ruby Osborne Matthews. Esther had been a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Rufus Barlow and John Matthews; children, Larry Barlow, Jackie Barlow, and Robert Matthews; and siblings, Linda, Arlen, Jerry, Allen, Janice, and Crystal.

Esther is survived by her children, William Barlow and wife, Debbie, Michael Barlow and wife, Teresa, and John Matthews; grandchildren, William Barlow, Jr., Edward Barlow, Samantha Fife, David Barlow, April Celio, Amanda Depaz, Chris Barlow, James Barlow, Joyce Moore, Carissa William, Larry Barlow, Jr., Terry Barlow, Jerry Barlow, Laura Barlow, Robert Smith, Candra Matthews, Jessica Matthews, Jeremy Northcutt, and Violetta Bennett; siblings, Paulette, Ronnie, and Julie; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Barker presiding. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens in Pineville. Pallbearers will be David Barlow, Richard Barlow, Landon Barlow, Chris Barlow, Jeremy Northcutt, Terry Barlow, Tim Carter, Tony Stapler, Justin Freeman, Sampson Churchwell, and Scott Kohl.
