Ernest Wayne "Griz" Wilson

Mr. Ernest Wayne “Griz” Wilson, age 67, of Cumberland Gap, TN was born January 27, 1955 and passed away peacefully Monday, December 26, 2022 with his loving wife by his side. He was a member of Butcher’s Gap Missionary Baptist Church and was a coal miner for many years. Griz loved the Lord and his family more than anything. He was an avid hunter but he would always rather be spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Cecil and Ruby (Caldwell) Wilson, daughter; Michelle Howard, brother; Marvin Wilson, brother-in-law; James Willis, sister-in-law; Brenda Wilson

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; Darlene (Brock) Wilson, sons; Kevin Wilson and wife Leslie, McKinley Wilson and wife Heather, grandchildren; Hunter Wilson, Bailey Wilson, Corey Howard, Tyler Howard, Tabby Bundy and Jax Wagner, great grandson; Ryker Howard, brothers; Denny Turner and wife Geraldine, Michael Wilson and wife Mary Helen, Harley Wilson, Ricky Wilson and wife Pam, Randy Wilson and wife Heather, sister; Charlsie Wilson, turkey hunting partner and best friend; Jeff Higgden. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 10AM until 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 12 noon in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with Kevin Turner officiating. Music will be provided by Butcher’s Gap Church Singers, Dylan Carnes, Taylor Carnes and Hunter Wilson. Burial will follow in the Mountainview Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
