Elsie Mae Lawson

September 16, 1939 — February 7, 2014

Elsie Mae Lawson, 74, of Barbourville, formerly of Tinsley, KY, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at her daughter-in-law's home. She was born in Bryson, TN on September 16, 1939 a daughter of the late Naboth Elijah and Vealie North Waldroop. She was of the Baptist Faith and had been a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Lawson, whom she married on November 13, 1958. Survivors include her son, Sherman Lawson and wife, Debbie Hill Lawson of Barbourville, John David Lawson and, wife, Donna of Lynchburg, OH and Cal Elijah Lawson of Barbourville; grandchildren, Sherman Joshua and Rhonda Lawson, Christopher Arron and Kaysey Lawson, Davy Lawson, Mary Lawson, Zeveren Hill and Troy Hill; and one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, David and Glenda Waldroop of Lakeland, FL, Paul and Mille Waldroop of Pique, OH, Adabell and Dank Evans of White Oak, TN, Elizabeth Hoover of Sydney, OH, Phobe Watson of Winterhaven, FL and Martha Ellen Moyers of Morristown, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks are extended to the nurses and aides of Knox County Hospice and Knox County Health Department. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rick Partin. Music will be by Jack Smith and Micky Cox. Burial will be in the Tad Goodin Cemetery at Tinsley. Pallbearers will be Jerry Baker, Josh Lawson, Cal Lawson, Troy Hill and Zeveren Hill. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Lawson Family.
