Elmer Smith

Elmer Smith, 76 of Arjay, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the TriState Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrogate. He was born in Cary, KY on March 9, 1941 and was a son of the late Elroy and Dorothy Kinkade Smith. Elmer believed in the Pentecostal faith and had worked as a coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Smith and sister, Mildred Weiss. Elmer is survived by his children, Nora Liford and husband Denny, Joey Smith and wife, Mona, Elmer Lee Smith, Jr. and wife, Jennifer and Karen Caldwell and husband, Marvin; eight grandchildren; sister, Mabel Card; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bill Dunn and Rev. Arthur Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Jim Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 9 Pm at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to be serving the Smith family.
