Elmer Lawson

Elmer Lawson, 91, of Arjay, KY passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born September 24, 1927 in Beverly, KY, the son of the late Eliza Lawson Saylor and Richard Lawson. He was a member of the Crockett Saylor Pentecostal Church. He served in the United States Army, Headquarters Company 532ND Engineer Boat and Shore Battalion from 1946 to 1947. He had worked at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne, IN until he retired in 1986. In addition to his parents and his step-father, Reverend Johnny Saylor, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 1/2 years, Elva Brock Lawson; daughter, Rosetta Caldwell; granddaughter, Crystal Leigh Cox and grandson, Homer Lenice Cox; great-grandson, Daniel Madison Seigler; sisters, Thelma Ciferri, Phoebe Saylor and Delia Collett. Survivors include his children, Mildred Mason of Arjay, KY, Michael Dean Lawson of Barbourville, KY, Karen Cox of Arjay, KY and Michael Brandon Lawson (Tina) of Antwerp, OH; brothers, Ray Saylor, Farmer (Rose) Saylor both of Pineville, KY and RJ (Clara) Saylor of Churubusco, IN; sisters, Chesney Brock of Arjay, KY, Myrtle Neal of Churubusco, IN and Anna Lee (Ron) Saylor of Pineville, KY; grandchildren, Melissa Seigler, Nicholas Lawson, Scott (Ann) Lawson, Jake (Janeen) Lawson, Jamie (Chantel) Lawson and Jennifer LeRose Cox; great-grandchildren, Michael Brandon Lawson, Justin Seigler, Ashley Lawson, Amber Lawson, Alexus Lawson, Madison Lawson, Landon Lawson, Courtney (Dustin) Dixon, ShawnAvery Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Dalton Lawson, Corbin Lawson and Brooklynn Lawson; great-great-grandchildren, Caydence and Alyssa Lawson, Kason Maggard, Lucas Lawson and Aubree Dixon and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Crockett Saylor Pentecostal Church with Rev. Ronnie Hoskins, Rev. Richard Asher and Rev. Demus Couch. Music will be by the Church Family. Burial will be in Brummett Cemetery at Simms Fork. Pallbearers will be, Michael Brandon Lawson, Jake Lawson, Justin Seigler, ShawnAvery Lawson, Nick Lawson, Dustin Dixon, Johann Brock and Harold Dean Collett. The Family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville.
