Effie Dixon Hatfield age 85 of Harrogate passed away December 24th 2008. Born April 6, 1923 to the late John Dixon & Neely Leonard Dixon. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by: Husband-Clayton Hatfield, Son-Wayne Hatfield, Brothers- Tom Leonard and Shelby Leonard, and Sisters- Bessie Massingill, Maudie Cavins, Minnie Daniels. She was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include:

Sons: Harley Hatfield of Tazewell, Leonard (& Linda) Hatfield, Clayton Jr. (& Carolyn) Hatfield both of Harrogate.

Daughters: Bertha Surber (& Vince) of Harrogate, Barbra Taylor & Paul) of New Tazewell, Oleen Rodgers (& Myrl) of Harrogate, Coleen (& Karl) Louthan of New Tazewell, Frances Keck (& fiancé Bob Griffin of Tazewell.

Sisters: Pearlie Cavins, Ada Pierce both of Monroe MI, Jeanett Sthar of Flat Rock MI, and Virginia Baker.

Twenty seven grandchildren, numerous great- grandchildren and numerous great-great- grandchildren and the nurses at Claiborne County Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday Dec 27th at Reece Funeral Home & Valley Chapel with Rev. Joe Whitaker, Rev. David Cosby, and Rev. Doug Fultz officiating. Music by The Mt Gilead Church Choir.
