Edna Mayes

Edna Geneva Mayes, age 91 of Speedwell went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by parents Jeff & Hettie McCulley Shepherd, husband Vantoy Mayes, infant daughter Caroline Mayes, special son Arnold Mayes, & precious granddaughter Kelley Clawson. She was a faithful member of the Church of God Mountain Assembly.

She is survived by her children, Ruby Lengacher of Fort Wayne, IN, Daniel (& Barbara) Mayes of Claxton, TN, Linda (& Jack) Welch of Speedwell, Donald (& Darlene) Mayes of Fort Wayne, IN, David Mayes of Knoxville, TN, Steven (& Vickie) Mayes of Speedwell, TN, Annette (& Leslie) Powell of Speedwell, Jerry (& Melissa) Mayes of Speedwell, Gail (& Craig) Schulz of Speedwell, Lisa (& Ronnie) Pittman of Speedwell, 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren & a host of family & friends. She was loved and cherished by all. A special thanks to Claiborne County Nursing Home, Tazewell, TN, and all the nurses and CNA's who adopted our mother as their own and took such special care of her.

Funeral service will be 7 PM Friday, Aug., 19th at Reece Funeral Home & Valley Chapel with her sons officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM. Graveside service will be 11 AM Saturday at the Greasy Hollow Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
