Edna Mae Hoskins, a lifelong resident of Bell County, KY, has left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father. Edna passed away on July 29, 2021, at age 89. She was born on October 5, 1931, to Jarvis and Fannie Brock. Edna married her husband, Virgil L. Hoskins, at age fifteen; they had eight children and were together for fifty-three years prior to Virgil’s passing in 1999. Edna devoted her entire life to providing and caring for her family. Her love and devotion to them were without limit. She made tremendous personal sacrifices throughout her life so that her children and husband could thrive and experience unconditional love. Edna was more than a wife and mother; she was the ultimate role model for her entire family, especially her children. Edna was a caregiver for her entire life, becoming “mommy” to her three younger brothers when they lost their mother when Edna was only eleven years old. She gave up her childhood and stepped up to the task without hesitation. By the time Edna turned thirty-two, she had had eight children of her own and was determined to give them the best life she could. Through hard times and good times, she never wavered from her life’s mission. She not only provided the love her family needed but set the best example possible for them to follow. She was the personification of a mother’s love, and her children are all so blessed and thankful that she was their Mommy. Her reward was in knowing that she had the same unconditional love of her children in return. Edna is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Virgil L. Hoskins, her infant daughter, Rosetta Hoskins, her infant great-granddaughter Nora Mae Hoskins, her step-grandson George Hoskins Jr., her father and mother Jarvis and Fannie Brock, and brothers Harrison and J.B. Brock as well as nine half brothers and sisters. Edna is survived by her seven children: Ruth Willis (Gene), Carl Hoskins (Joan), Wayne Hoskins (Nancy), Lonnie Hoskins (Wanda), David Hoskins (Barbara), Arnold Hoskins (Amanda), Paul Hoskins (Queeny), and stepson George Hoskins (Wanda). She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Ruthie Brock and brother Charles Brock as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edna will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Private services will be held at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens in Pineville. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville is honored to serve the Hoskins Family. Light a candle of remembrance and sign the guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
