Edith Stewart Johnson, 78, of East Pineville, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, March 28, 2008 at her home. She was born in Blackstar, KY on August 21, 1929 a daughter of the late Frank and Elsie Hubbard Stewart. She had lived most of her life in East Pineville where she attended church with her husband and family. On June 15, 1946, she married James Junior Johnson and to this union the Lord blessed them with 12 children, which was the number Edith always said she wanted. She was a very loving, praying giving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all that knew her. She was a born again Christian who believed in the Holiness Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, children, Rickie Sue and Carol Sue, grandchildren, Polly and Edward Thomas; brothers, Shirl, Saint Paul, Mason and E.L. Johnson; sister, Lola Tipton, sister-in-law, Lydia Stewart and special friends, Effie Idol, Nell Collett and Evelyn Warsham. Survivors include her children, Van (Henrietta) Johnson, Linda (Lee) Rigney, Harold (Hunk) Johnson, Rita Faye Johnson, Marty (Jerry) Rogers, Frank (Paula) Johnson, Robert Johnson, James (Beverly) Johnson, Elsie Mae Johnson and Mike (Tina) Johnson; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, brothers, Henry and Frank Stewart, sister, Gladys Sepeck and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. George Neal and Rev. David Jackson. Music will be by grandson, Joshua Johnson, Barbara Bingham, Brenda Jackson and Ron Hensley. Burial will be in the Jackson Family Cemetery on Laurel Hill. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandson. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
