Earl Hurst

Earl Hurst, 93, of Pineville passed away on September 30, 2018 at the Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY. He was born in Pineville on May 15, 1925 a son of the late Stephen and Doxie Calloway Hurst. Earl was a member and Deacon of the First United Methodist Church, Pineville. He had been an active member of the Pineville Lion's Club for many years where he served as Treasurer. Earl served in the US Army for 21 years, he was wounded in Italy during World War II and was then captured in France and was a Prisoner of War in Germany for nine months. He was wounded again while serving in Korea. After retiring from the US Army as a Command Sergeant Major he worked at the US Postoffice for 21 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie Lowe Hurst and his second wife, Margaret Sewell Hurst and brother, Rex Hurst. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James and Christine Hurst; step-son, Tommy Bainbridge; grandchildren, Jason Hurst and Nicole Hurst and many friends. Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Suntken. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Pineville Lion's Club, Pineville, KY 40977. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hurst Family.
