Duane Roop

Duane Roop, age 61 of Chatsworth, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022, at his residence.

Duane worked as an Insurance Agent for Commonwealth Life Insurance for 20 years. After his retirement, he began working at Kroger and was presently employed there. He was also a Volunteer Tour Guide at Abraham Lincoln University which he loved doing.  Duane would always say, "Mom, the best gift you ever gave me was Jesus." That statement was so true as he loved the Lord with so much might. He was a loving Christian man, and it showed. Everyone he met adored him because of his charismatic personality. He was a positive light for anyone he came across.

Duane also loved his wife, Tina fiercely. The pair were a sight to be seen. They were always silly and laughing together. They shared a once-in-a-lifetime love between them. He will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carroll Roop; grandparents, Bill and Elsie Roop, and Shilo and Vernie Collins.

Duane is survived by his wife, Tina Roop of Chatsworth GA; mother, Anna Roop of Harrogate, TN; daughter, Brooke Saylor Geeting of Philadelphia, PA; son, Matthew Roop of Singapore; stepdaughters, Crystal Cole of Collinsville, AL, and Maria Townson of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Ramona June Geeting, Francis (Frankie) Reeve Geeting, Hailey Weaver, Brayden Townson, Kayleigh Townson, Dallas Townson, Landon Townson; brothers, Rick Roop and his wife, Kim of Harrogate TN, Danny Roop and his wife, Tina of Knoxville TN., and Jason Roop and his wife, Amanda of Campbellsville, KY.

A service to honor the life of Duane Roop will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Fergerson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Another service to honor his life will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the  Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel located at 6340 Cumberland Gap Parkway, Harrogate TN 37752.  Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Harrogate, TN.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate, TN.
