Doyle Swanner, 79 of Pineville, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Tri State Health & Rehab Center in Harrogate, TN. He was born in Blanche, Kentucky on November 14, 1934 and was the son of the late Walter and Sarah Swanner. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pineville where he served as an Elder and Deacon. Doyle was a Biology teacher for Bell County School System for 33 years and South East Community College for 15 years and had been the clock keeper at for Bell County High School sporting events for 50 years. He was an inductee into the Union College Sports Hall of Fame and enjoyed fishing and tennis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Erika B. Hoak, sister; Bonnie Swanner; and Erika's mother, Sandy Swanner. Survivors include his son, Doyle Ray Swanner of Somerset; grandchildren, Alexander Hoak and William Hoak of Midland, TX; son-in-law, Brent Hoak of Midland, TX; sisters, Bobbie Gambrel of Greenville, SC, Jewell and George Baker of Raleigh, NC, Carol Henning of Mt. Sterling, KY, Diane and Terry Cox and Barbara and Luther Evans of Harrogate, TN; brothers, James W. and Loetta of Greenville, SC, Jerry and Annette of Williamson, SC, Earl Dean of Arjay, Lonnie and Wanda of Albemarle, NC, Michael and Kathy of Woodbine, KY; Doyle Ray's mother, Norma Jo Sears; and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and special friends. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, Pineville with Rev. Jim Woodring. Music will be by Jeanine Simpson. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, 201 W. Tennessee Ave., Pineville, KY 40977.
