Doris Blanton

Doris M. Blanton, 91, resident of Gulfport, Florida, passed away on Thursday February 16, 2012. She was born on September 18, 1920, at Manito Hill in Page. She was the oldest daughter of the late Lucy Miracle and Millard Blanton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hugh Blanton, and Millard ?Dicky? Blanton, and sister Pauline Morris. Doris is survived by her sisters Clara Jo Dow, of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Wanda Faye Hoskins of Pineville, KY. Her nieces and nephews include Paula Gay Morris Meyers, Erie, PA, Mark Counides, Payette, ID, Georgia Ann Counides Pope, Bonita Springs, FL, the late Ronald Hoskins, Welsey Blanton, Lisa Blanton Brown, Roger Hoskins, Rodney Hoskins, all of Pineville, Hugh Blanton, Jr., California, and Jim Blanton, Louisville, KY. She enlisted in the United States Woman?s Army Corp in 1943 and attained the rank of Captain by the time of her retirement. She served her country during World War II in France.
