Dora Buchanan

Ms. Dora Buchanan, age 73, of Tazewell, TN was born January 24, 1951 and passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Dora was known by her family and friends for cooking some of the best food around and the lemonade that everyone looked forward to at the reunion each year. Dora never met a stranger no matter where she was and would make anyone feel like her own family. She was an avid collector of antiques for many years but she loved spending time with her family above all else.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Barney and Mary Hopkins, husband; Wade “Buck” Buchanan, son; James Anthony Trent, brothers; Harold Hopkins and wife Argil, Charles Hopkins, sister; Debbie Hopkins.

She is survived by her children; Mary Jane Edwards and Vincent Mcgurl, Rebecca and George Nickols, Scott Eric Williams, Shane and Dikshita “Minnie” Hopkins, grandchildren; Kristina Douglas, Dustin Bowlin, Allison Epperson, Jennifer Smith, Ethan Shane Hopkins, Mylee Kate Hopkins and Emily Rose Priya Hopkins, several great-grandchildren, brother; Herb Hopkins and Barbara, sister; Donna Manning and David, sister-in-law; Kathy Hopkins,  special aunt; Jane Spradling, special friend; Glen Mullins. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vanessa Hopkins for her wonderful, loving care of Dora for many years.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 6PM until 8PM at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate. Funeral services will be conducted 1PM Sunday, July 21, 2024 in the Valley Chapel with Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Judy and Billy McMurry and Jason Hopkins. Burial will follow in the Hopkins Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Ethan Hopkins, Vincent Mcgurl, George Nickols, Robbie Smith, Chris Douglas, Clyde Culberson and Christian Myers.
