Donna Chris (Neal) Ballew

Donna Chris Neal Ballew, 65, of Speedwell, went to be with her Savior on January 23, 2018 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born on September 4, 1952 in Mount Sterling, KY, and was a daughter of the late Ossie and Gladys Neal. Some of us knew her as Donna and some of us knew her as Chris, but we all know she was a special person in everyone’s life. She loved everyone, and her humor brought out the best in people. Her heart was the biggest part of her, and her door was always open, whether a place to sleep or just something to eat. She was always someone you could talk to, or just to cry on her shoulder. She will be deeply missed, but will be richly rewarded in Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Licklighter and Maxine Creath.

Survivors include her sister, Charlotte Flannery of Middletown, OH; son, Keith Lee Ballew, his wife, Emily, and their children, Kelsie and Eric Ballew, all of Mainville, OH; daughter, Carol Lynn Ballew, and her children, Ariel Garren of Ewing, Va and Casey Ballew of Speedwell; ones she considered a son and daughter, Joetta and Steve Gibson, and their children, Brandon and Sierra Patterson and Steven and Chrissa Gibson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00PM Wednesday, January 31 at the Reece Valley Chapel in Harrogate. Graveside services will be 11:00AM Thursday, February 1 at the Hill Cemetery at Pine Grove with Jesse Owens, Chris Schooler, Jeffrey Willis, Jonathan Ausmus, Jimmy Dale Harp, John Sweat, and Thomas Shifflet, serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Wright, Neal Welch and Steve Gibson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM at the Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel in Harrogate.
