Donna Marie Howard

Donna Marie Howard, 60 of Pineville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Donna was born in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Ransom and America Griffith.

Donna enjoyed a lifelong career in the nursing field as a nurse for 20 plus years. She was an avid lover of music, gardening, camping, and cooking. More than anything her children and grandchildren were her top priority. Whether it was hosting a tea party for her “little babies” or hosting her annual weeklong Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival celebration for her “big babies”, she was always placing an importance on quality family time. Mamaw/Non shared a unique bond with each grandchild. She always had a way of making each of them feel special and loved!

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Berlin “Berky” Howard; her sister, Terri Laws; brothers, Johnny Griffith and George Campbell; and son, Berlin “Forest” Howard, lll.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Christy Mosley, Misty (Johnny) Philpot, and Marie (Mark) Henderson, all of Pineville; her sisters, Freda Simpson of Pineville, and Laura (Sam) Hacker of Rockholds; a brother, Jerry Griffith of Paintsville; grandchildren, Michael (Shalyn) Mosley, Jacob Maggard, Trenton Sizemore, John Aaron Philpot, Justin Philpot, Madison Philpot, Zachery Henderson, Kaleigh Hoskins, Carter Henderson, and Dillon Henderson, all of Pineville; great-grandchildren, Logan Philpot, Emoree Philpot, Meredith Mosley, and Lorelai Mosley also of Pineville; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and special friends, Fran Wyrick, Vicki Asher, and Kim Stamper.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bluegrass Hospice Care and a special thank you to her nurse, Meagan Short, for always going above and beyond.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at East Jellico Baptist Church with Tony Nierengarten presiding.

Any donations can be made to the funeral expenses.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the East Jellico Baptist Church from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour.
