Donald Mills

Donald Mills, 83 of Arjay, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at home. He was born in Blanche on September 18, 1942, a son of the late Taylor and Creasie Bailey Mills. Donald was a Kentucky Colonel, known as “The Mayor of Arjay”, and a believer in the Baptist Faith. He had been a coal miner, electrician, and heavy equipment operator in our local mines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Janice Bowman Mills.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Donna Mills, Deanna Mills, and Christy Capps and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Amanda and Daniel Williams, Rachel Ellis, Baileigh Capps, and Addison Capps; great-grandchildren, Blakely Ellis, Kason Williams, and soon to arrive, Summitt Smith; sisters, Carolyn Lundy and Jackie Rutyna; special friends, Judy Dozier, Tish Bishop, and Johnny Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wagner presiding. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Smith, Steve Capps, Daniel Williams, Blakely Ellis, Bill Bailey, Johnny Bishop, and Earnest Gambrel.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM until the funeral hour at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Mills family.
