Donald Ray Hensley

Donald Ray Hensley, 76 of Arjay, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell. He was born in Arjay on May 16, 1949, a son of the late Albert and Myrtle Jones Hensley. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a believer in the Holiness Faith and had been a Coal Miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald Hensley, Daniel Hensley, Virgie Hensley, Arnold Hensley, Bobby Hensley, Eugene Hensley, Charles Hensley, Margie Gambrel, and Leroy Hensley.

Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Shepherd Hensley; son, Donald Hensley, II; grandchildren, Shana Hensley Schultz and husband, Tyler, Amanda Hensley Webb and husband, Isaiah, and Cody Hensley; great grandchild, Tucker Ray Webb; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie King, Rev. Danny Stewart, and Bro. Alex Cox presiding. Burial will follow at the Big Jim Cemetery in Arjay. Pallbearers will be Donnie Sparks, Isaiah Webb, Tyler Schultz, Donald Hensley, II, Marty Gambrell, and Cody Hensley.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hensley Family.
