Dewey Wayne Gibson

Dewey Wayne Gibson, age 67 of Speedwell, TN passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born April 21, 1952 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Jesse and Elon (Lawson) Gibson.  Dewey was a proud member of the UMWA and worked as a coal miner for 40 years until his retirement. He was employed by Consolidated Coal, Bell County Coal, and Tennco.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson; Corey Gibson, brother; Michael Gibson and wife Kim, sister; Mary Sue Hatmaker and brother-in-law; Kermit Hatmaker.

He is survived by his loving wife; Debbie Gibson, children; Jesse Gibson (Lorri Lawson), Steven Gibson (Joetta Gibson), grandchildren; Brandon Patterson, Sierra Patterson, Steven Gibson, Chrissa Gibson, brothers; Calvin Gibson, Joe (Loretta) Gibson, Don (Lana) Gibson, James (Patricia) Gibson, David (Phyllis) Gibson, sisters; Betty (Fred) Thomas, Cora (Paul) Cass, mother-in-law; Corene Rego, sister-in-law; Brenda (Ed) Bowling, brothers-in-law; Billy (Janice) Idol, Lee Byrd (Jessica), special friends; Randy and Cindy Napier, Roger Vires and Kenneth Spurlock. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 18, 2019 from 5PM until 7PM with funeral services to follow at 7PM in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel, Harrogate with the Rev. Ronald Lambert officiating. Music will be provided by The Gibson Family.

Family and friends will meet at 10AM Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel to go in procession to the Mountainview Cemetery and Memorial Gardens for 11AM graveside services with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
