Delphia Mahan Jones, 87 of Pineville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Whitley County on September 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Sollie and Eddie Peace Mahan. Delphia was a soldier for the Lord for 61 years and was a member of the Beech Bottom Baptist Church. She was a faithful and loving wife for 41 years, having married Ben Jones on May 1, 1943, and was a loving mother, raising their eight children in Whitley County. Delphia grew up in hard times and had lots of wisdom to pass on that touched the hearts of many; she will be cherished and sadly missed by those that knew her. In addition to her husband and parents, Delphia was preceded in death by her son, Julious Jones, great-great-granddaughter, Emily Grace Fuson, and two brothers, PVC. W.C. Mahan and R.B. Mahan. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Mary and Tom Carter of Washington, PA, Edna and Jr. Fuson of Pineville, Critty and Elmer Hall of Evarts, Bernett and Terry Brock of Nebo, KY, Bessie Jones of Leo, IN, Dewey and Nadine Jones of St. Augustine, FL, Bennie Jones of Galion, OH; step son, Raymon and Carolina Jones of Detroit, MI; sister, Verna Mahan Jones of Williamsburg; brothers, Virgil Mahan and Clyde Mahan (Who was like a son) both of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Ronnie (Trina) Fuson and Teddy (Tina) Fuson all of Pineville, Connie (Mike) Warren of Kingsport, TN, Sherry (Hubert) Humfleet and Tommy (Brenda) Hall all of Evarts, Tracey Brock of Madisonville, KY, Shawn Brock of Nashville, TN, Tyler Jones and Rachel Ditty, both of Galion, OH, Tom (Glenna) Carter, Diane (Greg) Winkelman and Julie (Bernard) Christensen all of Washington, PA and Scott (Melissa) Carter of Philadelphia, PA; great-grandchildren, Chris (Brittany), Randy (Brandy), Brittany and Hunter Fuson, Whitney and Chelsey Humfleet, Caitlin and Connor Brock, Amber, Breanna and Courtney Hall, Joshua, Christopher and Erin Carter, Danielle, Keith, Eric and Hannah Winkelman, Emily and Amy Christensen, Madison and Savannah Carter and Lauren and Matthew Good; great-great-grandchildren, Reagan, Riley and Bentley Fuson, Caiden Taylor and Bryson Carter, two special friends and caregivers, Willetta Fuson (who was like a daughter) and Patricia Brock, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
