David Allen "Davey" Widener, Jr., 44 of Pineville, passed away of a brief illness on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his home. He was born in Pineville on August 7, 1976, a son of David Sr. and Judy Watts Widener. David worked for England Corsair as an Assembly Line Worker. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy and was baptized. David loved to hunt, fish, and to do carpentry work. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Wilma Widener; maternal grandparents, Rev. Lee and Mary Watts; uncles, Howard Widener, Jr., and Philip Lee Watts, Jr.; aunt, Peggy Widener; and cousins, Daniel Watts, Jeff Watts, Angel Bruner, and Anthony Howard. David is survived by his parents, David Sr. and Judy Widener; his son, David Austin Widener; daughter, Amber Madison Widener; sister, Sandra Elliott and her husband, Randy; nephews, Randall Elliott and his wife, Carlene, Ryan Elliott, and Raiden Avery Elliott; niece, Shalyn Elliott; great-niece that like a granddaughter, Carmen Elliott; mother of his children, Katie Simpson; aunts and uncles, Barbara Brock, Rose and Jackie Hoskins, LouAnn and Mickey Garrison, Teresa and Tray Alan Stinson, Phillip and Sally Widener, Irene Widener, Bishop Custer and Drucilla Watts, Bobby and Phyllis Watts, Howard and Regina Watts, Shirley Watts, Vickie Watts, Carolyn and Ted Wells, and Betty and Albert Dahn; and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Grubbs and Rev. Chris Turner presiding. Music will be provided by Nathan and Tawanna Frye. Burial will follow at the Straight Creek Cemetery in Straight Creek. Pallbearers will be David's cousins, Phillip Michael Bruner, Jackie G. Hoskins, Shawn Garrison, Derrick Widener, Dewayne Widener, and Lowell Howard; and friend, Rocky Partin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Lewis, Greg Lewis, Sherman White, Crystal Jones, Steve Philpot, Sturgill Phipps and Lowell Dean Howard. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Widener family.
