David Elige “Tongue” Hensley, of East Jellico, passed away peacefully at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in London at the age of 68. He was born on April 30, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Flossie Hensley Baker and David Hensley. He had worked in residential construction.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey Howard, sister, Jeanette Philpot, and nephew, David “DayDay” Howard.
David is survived by his daughter, Amy Michelle Hensley and her children, Austin Hensley and Jordan Wombles; son, David Hensley, wife, Betty, and his children, Heidi Hensley, Bella Hensley, Ava Hensley, and David Hensley, III; daughter, Ann Hensley Partin and Brittany Hensley; sisters, Alma Marie Hensley and Charlotte Howard; nephews, Steven Howard and Joey Philpot; and niece, Brittany Howard; best friend, James Shipley; and a host of other family and friends.
May David rest in peace and forever remain in the hearts of those that really loved him.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Mr. Billy Jackson presiding. Burial will follow in East Jellico. Pallbearers will be Wade Johnson, Steven Howard, David Hensley, Austin Collett, and Billy Jackson.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hensley family.
