Daniel Hoskins

August 16, 1927 — January 3, 2018

Daniel Hoskins, age 90, a lifelong resident of Bell County from Stoney Fork, Kentucky passed away on January 3, 2018 at the Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Ferndale. He was born on August 16, 1927 at Mill Creek, KY. Daniel retired from the Kentucky Utilities Company with 28 years of service as a First Class Lineman. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed gardening and farming. He spent most of his time on his Farmall International Harvester Tractor plowing, cutting and baling hay for himself and others in the community. Daniel was a mountain of a man. He was strong, hardworking, honest and never had idle hands. He worked from sun-up until sundown. His greatest enjoyment was watching his five children grow up and later his ten grandchildren. He was saved and baptized at Stoney Fork Baptist Church in 1974. He was preceded in death by his loving of wife and the mother of his five children, Leta Mae Caldwell Hoskins, with whom he was reunited with on the date of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Also preceding him in death was his son, Robert Wayne Hoskins and a grandson, Robert Alan Hoskins; his parents, Bass and Sarah Napier Hoskins; four brothers, Robert, George, Lawrence and Fred Hoskins; two sisters, Cloie Hendrickson and Wilalene Brock. He is survived by four children who will miss him dearly, Delilah (Clyde) Johnson, Danny (Beulah) Hoskins, Carol (Greg) Ellis and Tony Hoskins; grandchildren, Bishop (Sarah) Johnson, Derrick (Jennifer) Hoskins, Sonya (Joel) Chick, Tracy Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Joshua (Shania) Hoskins, Mckenzie (Dylan) Lawson, Scott Hoskins and Shane Hoskins; three great-grandchildren, Hayden Blakely Chick, his namesake, Daniel Asher Chick and Anson Lawson; also surviving are Daniel's two brothers, Walter (Mary) Hoskins, Frank Hoskins; three sisters, Evalene Davis, Barbara (Gary) Howard and Martine (Joe) Weitzel; special cousin, Boyd Hoskins and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A heartfelt special thanks to all of the staff at Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially the CNA's and Nurses. Also to Regina Ramsey and Mary Bishop with Pineville Home Health. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ron Howard and Rev. Jeremy Sanders at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel in Pineville, on January 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Music will be provided by Mickey Wilder. Burial will follow in the Hoskins Cemetery in Stoney Fork. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hoskins family.
