Daisy Broughton Locke

Daisy Locke, 107, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Claiborne Health and Rehab in Tazewell, TN. She was born in Pineville, KY on December 7, 1910 a daughter of the late John W. and Sarah Margaret Garrett Broughton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineville, where she was very active in the Children's Ministry. Daisy was a graduate of Eastern KY University and did her graduate work at Marshall University. She had been a school teacher in several school systems, including Pineville and Bell County, KY and Cabell County, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Keith Locke; all her brothers and sisters, Laura Broughton Napier, Ida Broughton Napier, Lucy Broughton Moore, Oscar Broughton, Allie Broughton, Maude Broughton Slusher, Dora Broughton Turner, May Broughton Hughes, Lillian Broughton Creech and Glenn Broughton. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Larry Keith and Patty Locke, John Alvin and Debbie Locke, Margaret Lynn and Dennis Fultz; six granddaughters, eleven great-grandsons and one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Howard. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Special thanks is extended to Audrey Brock, Louise Brock, Loretta Caldwell and Sue Mills for their tender care of our mother. We are all appreciative of the extraordinary and excellent medical care Dr. Martha Combs Woolum provided for our mother. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the First Baptist Church, Pineville, Children and Youth Ministry, 405 W. Kentucky Ave., Pineville, KY 40977.
