Clayton W. Harkins

October 28, 1943 — December 10, 2022

Clayton W. Harkins, 79 of Fourmile, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Pineville Community Health Care with his wife by his side. He was born on October 28, 1943, a son of the late Tip and Samantha Harkins.

Clayton was a hardworking family man. He worked as an electrician for 45 years with the local IBEW #369. He was a member of the electrical crew that helped to build the Cumberland Gap tunnel. He also worked at Hyde Park Lumber Company in Norwood, Ohio for many years.


Clayton was full of life and never met a stranger. He loved to pick and play with people. After his retirement he was an auctioneer at many local auction sales.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Smallwood; and brother and sisters, Charlie Overbay, Harold Harkins, Vinamin ‘Jughead’ Harkins, Tip Harkins, Jr., Albert Harkins, and Flo Jean Harkins.


Clayton is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margie Jones Harkins; children, David Harkins, Clifford Patterson, Carman Huddleston, and MiKayla Harkins; grandchildren, Courtney Harkins Troxell, Wade Harkins, Sierra Harkins, MaKayla Harkins, Austin Harkins, Justin Renfro, Sean Smallwood, Ashley Smallwood, Joey Patterson, Jackie Patterson, Jesse Patterson, Brittany Wilder, Lindsey Huddleston Daniels, and Mylee Huddleston; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.


At Claytons request he will be cremated, and a private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
