Dr. Chester Lavoyen Brisley

Dr. Chester Brisley, age 95, went to his heavenly home, Wednesday, December 9, 2009.
Dr. Brisley was born April 3, 1914. He married Ms. Eva on June 19, 1932. Dr. and Mrs. Brisley lived in a number of places in the United States, and when they came to Harrogate fell in love with the rural town. Dr. Brisley was a retired professor from Lincoln Memorial University.
Dr. Brisley came to LMU after teaching at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Brisley played an integral role in the continued development of the University's business school and during his tenure served as both a faculty member and dean. Under his direction the Master of Business Administration program was founded. He was a life time member of the Bell County Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Ms. Eva Brisley, one daughter and son-in-law, Ms. Evelyn and Martin Bedrock, Michigan; and one sister, Gertrude Daniell, California. As well as their close friends and caretakers: Pat and John Rigsby, Tazewell, TN.
Dr. Brisley believed in love and commitment to God, Eva, his family and work. He was a role model for his students and demonstrated daily how important education is to one's life.
A celebration of Dr. Brisley's life will be held at the Reece Funeral Home in Harrogate on Monday, December 14, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with services to follow. Dr. Gary Burchett, Dr. Nancy Moody, Dr. Edwin Robertson and Rev. Gary Miller will preside. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harrogate Cemetery. LMU faculty will serve as pallbearers.
