Charles Edward Hale Sr.

Charles Edward Hale Sr., 84 of Pineville passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Bonanza, KY on June 13, 1930 and was the son of the late Homer and Trixie Williams Hale. Charles was a member of West Pineville Baptist Church, and had retired from the Kentucky Utilities Company as Chief Meterman. He had also been a school teacher for a short time and enjoyed his woodworking, making dulcimers and furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Beverly and Joyce Oney. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Ruth Cantrell Hale; his sons; Chuck Hale of Pineville and Chris Hale of Cumberland Gap; daughter, Barbara Gent and husband, John of Pineville; grandchildren, Ashley Anderson, Jeffery Anderson, Christopher Hale, Cole Gent and Kelly Hale; brother Homer Hale, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Local funeral services will be 7:00 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Jones. Music will be by Rev. David Peters. Funeral services will be 1PM Tuesday, August 19 at the Paintsville Funeral Home in Paintsville, KY with burial following in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of West Pineville Baptist Church, Lee Hatfield, Mike Mills, Dr. Steve Morgan and Charles Jones. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and again from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the Paintsville Funeral Home .
