Arnetta Lawson

April 16, 1945 — April 24, 2024

Charity Arnetta Lawson, age 79 of Wallins Creek, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell, surrounded by her beloved family. Arnetta was born in Cranks Creek on April 16, 1945, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Fowler Farmer. Charity was a believer of the Holiness Faith and had been a registered nurse, serving and providing care for her hometown, at Harlan ARH.

Arnetta is survived by her husband, Avery Howard Lawson; children, Jerry Wayne (Kami) Lawson of Russell Springs, KY and Avery Howard (Amanda) Lawson II of Speedwell, TN; grandchildren, Chloe (Nathan) Stearns, Corey Lawson, Jonah Lawson, Tyler Lawson, Max Lawson, Elijah Lawson, and Gage Lawson; great-grandchildren, Milo Lawson, Aubrey and Josephine Stearns; loving sisters, Anna (Roland) Black of New Carlisle, OH and Kay Bargo of Cawood, KY; as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Arnetta lived a well-renowned life, starting her early life in Cranks Creek, KY with a very rural upbringing. She heavily valued her education and started by completing her high school diploma at Hall High School; often selling eggs, milk, and many more farm products to make enough money to attend all the ball games. Arnetta attended LPN school in Lexington, KY at Good Samaritan before returning to Harlan, where she worked for a local doctor’s office for several years before continuing her education and pursuing her RN at the Diploma School at Harlan Hospital, this was no easy task with already being a mother to her first child. She then spent her time working through the ranks of many positions: medical nurse, surgical nurse, OB nurse, floor manager, psych nurse, and director, leading to her favorite of all positions, hospital nurse supervisor. She made many life-long connections and friendships throughout this career journey, while also inspiring her son, Jerry Wayne, to pursue a medical career and accept his degree as a Doctor of Medicine. Arnetta’s hard work ethic is also heavily instilled in her son, Avery Lawson, as he has completed his certificate in diesel mechanics and now uses his drive to pursue his career in industrial insulating throughout Tennessee.

Arnetta had many interests and always lived her life to the fullest. She loved spending her free time at their family houseboat on Lake Norris, surrounded by friends and loved ones. Arnetta also loved crocheting, knitting, and spending time with family and friends. She always enjoyed any time she was able to spend with the family and whole-heartedly loved her children and grandchildren; continuously yearning for the day she was able to retire and fully dedicate her time to her boys and grandbabies. Arnetta was loved dearly by all who knew her, and she always loved with such a kind and giving heart, she will be dearly missed by many people. The family would like to extend our greatest appreciation to Tri State Health and Rehabilitation Center of Harrogate, for the tremendous care throughout the past couple years.
