In Loving Memory of
Carolyn Sue Saylor
A Beloved Mom, Mamaw, and Granny
To know Granny was to be loved by her. She made sure the people around her felt loved, welcomed, and cared for. Her kindness was not something she saved for special occasions; it was part of who she was. She gave people the feeling that they mattered, and that love will remain in the hearts of the family and friends who were blessed to know her.
A Love That Thought of Everyone
One of the most beautiful reflections of Carolyn's heart was the letter she left for her family, titled "For All My Generations." Writing it was an extraordinary act of selflessness. Even in putting her own thoughts and wishes into words, she turned her attention toward the people she loved: asking them to care for one another, guide the little ones, stay close, and keep living with purpose. She wanted her family to have something to return to when they missed her-a lasting piece of her love, her wisdom, and her voice. The letter was more than a goodbye. It was a gift meant to keep loving them long after she could no longer say the words herself.
Her Family
She leaves behind her surviving children, Dale & Misty, Stan, and Wes; her surviving sister, Norma; her daughter Sue, who is in Heaven; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her special friend Sherry and lifelong best friend Kat. Her love will continue through every generation that follows.
Psalm 23 · King James Version
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Forever loved. Forever part of every generation.
For All My Generations
A lasting gift in Carolyn's own words
"I want you all to know that I love you so much from the first born to the last one."
"I have loved you all with all my heart and soul."
"Please love one another and get along. Be good to one another."
"The little children need love and understanding, guide them right."
"I wish I could have done more for you all."
"Please don't grieve over me. I have had a long life..."
"Just go on with your lives and just make me proud and happy."
"I hope to see you all someday, and I hope we can all meet together again."
Her letter asked her family to love one another, look after the little ones, and keep going. It is a reminder that the love she gave them is still here-in the way they care for each other, in the stories they share, and in every generation that carries her memory forward.
Her final gift was a way for her love to keep speaking.
And in true Granny fashion, one last thing to leave us smiling...
"I finally don't feel unnecessary."
A little family joke, and a whole lot of love.
