Carnes Mills

Carnes Martin Mills finished his earthly journey August 28, 2014 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Hospice unit after a sudden illness. He was born April 7, 1935 to the late Nasby and Lucy Carnes Mills in Scalf, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Mills on March 23, 2014. One of sixteen children, Carnes was preceded in death by his sisters, Captola Valentine and Louise Lingar and by his brothers, Curtis Mills, Tom Mills, Taylor Mills, Elzo Mills, Cecil Mills, George Mills, Arthur Mills, James Mills, Nasby Mills Jr, Robert Mills, and Pershing Mills. Left to mourn his passing are his children Joanie and Allen Roper, Terry (Bo) and Deborah Mills, and Katherine and Leonard Miller, Jr., all of Pineville, KY. Grandchildren, Jeremy and Kimberly Roper, of Asheville, NC. Jonathan and Tiffany Mills, Michelle Mills, of Pineville, KY. Adopted grandchildren, Jan-Michael Lambdin of Orlando, FL, and Will and Kristen Lambdin of Pineville, KY. Brothers, Daniel Mills of Middlesboro, KY and Dewey Mills of Sacramento, CA., a special niece that was like a sister to him his whole life, Mildred Lingar of Greenwood IN, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Daddy loved his family and was a proud grandfather. He was proud of his service in United States Marine Corp - Korea. How does one measure the greatness of a man? When he leaves this world , and if only one heart was truly broken, to that heart, he was a great man. In the hearts of many, daddy was a great man. Services will be at 11:00 AM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Mills, Mr. Jeremy Roper, Rev. Earl Dean Swanner and Mr. Leonard Miller. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Mills Family.
