Carl R. Short

Mr. Carl Ray Short, age 79, of Cumberland Gap, TN was born July 15, 1944 and passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Claiborne Medical Center. Carl left us with the testimony of salvation when he got his ultimate healing on Thursday evening. As the Bible says, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Carl loved fishing and being outdoors. He worked so hard to provide for his family and was always happy to tell others about his family, especially his grandkids. No matter where Carl went and who he was talking to, the grandkids were mentioned almost immediately. They were truly the apple of his eye.

He was preceded in death by his Parents: Charles and Ruby Short, sister; Linda Hazelwood.

He is survived by his wife; Brenda Short, son; Kyle Short and wife Roxanna, grandson; Chad Hutson and wife Frannie, great grandchildren; Alaina, Elisha and Elleigh, siblings; Randle Short (Joyce), DeVauda Mullins (Dana), Ruby Parker (James), Wanda Shackleford, Bartie Sampson (WK) and Roberta Arnett. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at a later date.
