Rev. Sawyer C. Foister, 87 of Pineville, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born on November 6, 1924 a son of the late Jim and Ollie Wagner Foister. He was a resident of Mountain View Nursing Home in Pineville, KY. He served as an evangelist and pastor for 24 years and had been a hard working truck driver. He believed in the Baptist faith and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran and served his country in Belgium, Germany and France. Sawyer was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years and the mother of his children, Mollie Lovell Foister; his second wife of 15 years, Johnnie Sprinkles Foister; brothers, Millard Foister, Luther Benny Foister; sister, Lucy Elliot, Pearlie Jewel King; grandson, Adam Boyd Gambrel; great-grandson, Thomas Jordan Manis. He is survived by his sons and their wife?s, Donald Ray and Patty Foister of Middlesboro; Millard James and Sheila Foister of Danville; daughters and their husbands, Delphia and Boyd, Jr. Gambrel of Pineville; Norma Jean Freels of New Tazewell, TN; Luann and Carl Manis of Speedwell, TN; grandchildren, Alan Gambrel, Craig, Donnie and Tammy Foister, James, Jennifer, Josh, Jessica Mollie Foister, Sherry Freels Mitchell, Donna Freels Fuson, Carla Manis Caldwell, Carl Manis, Jr.; and 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Iva lee Wilkerson and a host of friends, loves ones, neighbors and brothers and sisters in the Lord.
