Buddy Rice "Big Ears" Johnson

Buddy Rice Johnson, Jr, known as Big Ears, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Tri-State Nursing and Rehab, Harrogate. He was born on August 31, 1942, a son or the late Rice and Edith Hoskins Brock Johnson. He had worked for Straight Creek Mining and Cyprus Mineral Company since 1977 as a foreman. He was an avid fisherman, a very generous man and loved his church, Binghamtown Baptist Church, and his church family very much.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Doris Johnson, daughter, Kimberly Owsley; and brother, Earl Johnson.

Survivors include his daughter, Ricetta Lynn Johnson; son, Darrell Lee Johnson and wife, Creta Johnson; grandchildren, Kristen Nicole Tolliver and husband, Dee Jay and Tyler Anthony Johnson/ great-grandchild, Graham Lee Tolliver; special niece he loved like a daughter, Lisa Marie Hoskins; Kris Powers dear friend of the family; siblings, Betty Colvin, Lorene J. Hoskins, Lois Ann Toby, Lloyd Lee Johnson and wife, Phyllis and Frank Ed Johnson and wife, Mona and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Dr. William Boyd Bingham. The music will be by Rodger Howard and Benny Howard and Chris “Trey” Powers.

The family will meet about 11:00 AM to go in procession to Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro on Friday, August 23, 2024, for the Entombment. The pallbearers will be Tyler Johnson, Dee Jay Tolliver, Lee Brock, Jim Hoskins, Trey Wilburn, Michael Mills, William Mills and Deanio Carmical. Honorary Pallbearers Kevin Davis, Keith Lefevers, Rodger Howard, Bo Donnie Howard, Larry Beverly, Ronnie McDowell, William Boyd Bingham and Donnie Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, which is honored to serve the Johnson Family.
