Britten “Papaw” Beverly, 88 of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 9, 2021. He was born in Dewitt, Kentucky on November 24, 1932, a son of the late Richard and Dora Reynolds Beverly. Britten worked for 40 years at the Paper Mill in Muskegon were he retired as Assistant Color Man in 1994. He enjoyed gardening, time spent with his family and trips to Las Vegas in his free time. On November 10, 1951, he married Gladys Gray and she preceded him in death in 1986. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Beverly; son, Jerry Beverly; daughters, Kathy Visscher and Shirley Beverly; sisters, Linda Taylor, and Ada Garland; brothers, Arthur Beverly, Oscar Beverly, Jim Beverly, and Flem Beverly. Britten is survived by his son, John Beverly; grandchildren, Michael Visscher and wife, Heather, and Nicholas Visscher; great-grandchildren, Banyan Visscher and Harper Visscher; sister, Viola Lewis; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at the Beverly Family Cemetery in Arjay with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church.
