Bradley B. Ramsey, 93, died Friday, January 7, 2011 in Roane Medical Center. A loving father, husband, and grandfather, he was a US Army Staff Sergeant in World War II, serving at the Panama Canal and on the European front as a telecommunications technician. He was born in Shawanee, TN, October 11, 1917, graduated from Powell Valley High School and attended Lincoln Memorial University until he entered the military. After his military service, he was employed as a mail carrier in Middlesboro, KY and later as a coal tester for Pruden Kentucky Coal Company. In 1954, he moved to Kingston and worked at the Kingston Steam Plant until his retirement after 28 years of service. A member of Kingston United Methodist Church, he loved gardening and outdoor activities such as hiking trails in the Smokies and in Cumberland Gap National Park. He was preceded in death by parents, Steven Edgar and Nellie Rose Ball Ramsey; sisters Bernice Shoffner and Mildred Ely, and brother Tom Ramsey.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nancy Burke Ramsey of Kingston; daughters and sons in law, Linda Jane and James Murr of Warner Robins, GA and Daley Rose and Tom Rogers of Kingston; grandchildren Robert Bradley Murr and J. Douglas Murr of GA, and Kyle M. Rogers of Kingston; sister and brother in law Aileen and Frank Earle of Middlesboro, KY; many in laws, nephews and nieces. Special loved ones, caregivers, and friends include Rhiannon Carney, Christy Gorgol, the staffs of Amedisys Home Health Care and Roane Medical Center, Martha Effinger, and neighbors Daniel and Odella Bushey.The family received friends at the Kingston United Methodist Church from 4 until 6pm Tuesday, January 11th and will receive friends at Reece Funeral Home, Harrogate, TN on Wednesday, January 12th from 2 until 4pm with funeral service immediately following. Funeral and graveside services will be officiated by Ministers John Anderson and Sue Lynn Johnson of Kingston United Methodist Church and Pastor James Murr. Graveside service will be held at Scott Cemetery in Harrogate at 11am on Thursday, January 13th with full military honors provided by Tri-County Veteran's Honor Guard.
