Boyd Lee Smith, Jr., 67 of Pineville, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Barbourville ARH. He was born on February 15, 1956, a son of Boyd Lee Sr. and Betty Jean Haley Smith. Jr had been a coal miner. He proclaimed his faith and salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, June 1, to his family. He found his peace in the Lord. This was an answered prayer for his family and friends. He told Betty “To come on over, he would be waiting.” He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, fishing, squirrel hunting, and riding in the mountains. Jr was a man of his very few words, but you always knew where he stood with you. Jr married the love of his life, Betty, on May 30, 1979, they just celebrated 44 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Amanda and Jared, 5 grandkids, 2 great-grandkids, and Chelsie is due in November with another.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Chris Smith.
Jr is survived by his loving wife, Betty Partin Smith; daughter, Amanda Frasure and husband, Steven; son, Jared Smith and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Chelsie and Jamie Frye, Kanler Frasure and his girlfriend, McKinsey Phipps, Jayden Smith, Cooper Smith, and Mason Boyd Smith; great-grandchildren, Branson Frye, Meadow Frye, and Kenalee Frye whom will be here soon; sisters, Shirl Salata and husband, Jeff; Sharon Philpot; Peggy White and husband, Dennis; and Debbie Chadwell; sister-in-law, Glinda Smith; special life-long friends, Paul Logan and Paul Beagle Haley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Davisburg Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Partin, Rev. Jared Smith, and Rev. Justin Warwick presiding. Music will be provided by Summer Partin, George Smith, Mae Partin, and the Davisburg Church Choir. Burial will follow at the Kelly Partin Cemetery in Chenoa. Pallbearers will be Steven Frasure, Jamie Frye, Kanler Frasure, Cameron Chadwell, Jason Partin, John Maidon, Wesley Miracle, Ethan Shackleford, and Jayden Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren and the Doctors and Staff of Barbourville ARH.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Davisburg Baptist Church.
