BONNIE ROY JAMISON
Bonnie Roy Jamison, age 77, born February 21, 1934 to James and Marie Roy at Forge Ridge, Tennessee. She had four sisters - Betty, Bobbie, Cathy, Mary and three brothers - George and twins Jim and Mack. After completing her low level of education at Forge Ridge High School she went on to obtain her nursing degree at St. Mary's School for Nurses in Knoxville, TN as a Registered Nurse. She went on to proceed to have a long and fulfilling career in nursing. She was best known at The Claiborne County Nursing Home as Director of Nursing, where she retired in 1989. She worked part-time after that until 1995 where she was at Laurel Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed working and caring for the elderly.
While working as a nurse at Evans Hospital in Middlesboro, KY she met her husband Fred, who was a lab technician. They were married on July 28, 1954 and had a wonderful, warm loving marriage for 39 years. Their first six years they enjoyed traveling around the countryside working in hospitals together. During their travels they had three daughters. Their first born was Nancy Lynn who was born in Delta, CO in 1955. Next came Marietta that was named for their mothers, Marie for Bonnie's mother Marie and Etta for Fred's mother Etta, in Paintsville, KY. Their baby girl was Linda Sue who was born in Tazewell in 1961.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents James and Marie Roy, sister Mary, daughter Marietta and husband Fred.
While married to Fred they enjoyed their daughters, friends, church, traveling and probably best known - fishing. After Fred's passing in May 1995 Bonnie enjoyed attending church which was a member of at Church of God Mountain Assembly. There Pastor John remembers her best for wanting to hear a good joke and laugh. Her favorite thing was to GO! She didn't care where but she was always ready and she enjoyed eating out.
Since Fred's passing her daughter Linda has helped in her everyday living activities. She came up and got her groceries and medications, took her out to eat and doctors appointments. During the years Bonnie always went to Linda's for recovery and every Christmas. These last three years or so have been very rough on Bonnie. She had COPD and congestive heart failure. She broke her right shoulder and suffered with back and hip pain. Her last two months she was at Hillcrest North in Knoxville getting therapy to prepare to go home with Linda and Bob at their house in Knoxville on September 22nd. God decided that it was time to call her home to live with him at her eternal home instead on September 5th around 4:30 AM due to a massive heart attack. It is very appropriated that she passed away on Labor Day, the day that is known for resting from your labors and now she is resting in the arms of God.
She is survived by her daughters; Nancy Jamison of Tazewell and Nancy's special friend Amos Duncan; and Linda and her husband Bob Kelly of Knoxville. Step-grandson Tony and wife Denna Kelly of Knoxville and step-grandkids Michael and Brianna Kelly.
