Bobby Ray Gibson, 66, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Laurel Heights Nursing Home in London. He was born in the coal camps of Kay Jay, KY on February 18, 1949 son of the late Luther and Aline Burnett Gibson. He was a member of the Chenoa Baptist Church and volunteered to enlist in the US Navy in January 1969, where he served 34 months of active combat duty during the Vietnam War. Bobby was a Gunners Mate, then Gunsman and earned several awards and citations including 2 Bronze Stars during his service to the country. He worked in Heating and Air Conditioning and was a Licensed Electrician for 37 years. Survivors include his children, April and Danny 'Tuck' Miracle and Bobby Ray , Jr. and Danielle Gibson; grandchildren, Brooke Gibson and Cody Ray Gibson; His children's mother, Joann Gibson; brother and sisters, Shirley and Carlos Gray, Elizabeth and Joe Parker, Betty and Jimmy Hall, Billy and Sue Gibson and Carolyn and Michael Gordon and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family expresses a special thank you to Bobby's nurse, Pam Bowling and the staff at Laurel Heights. Services will be at 1 PM Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Fuson. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro with military honors by The Harlan Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jason Paul Green, Joshua Gibson, James Hall, Christopher Hall, David Baird and Robert Reynolds. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Gibson Family.
